The Indy Sound Man is proud to offer our very own course, Audio 101.  This 12 hour course takes you from zero to hero in 6 2-hour classes or 2 6 hour classes.  Each class consists of a classroom session of lecture and demonstration learning, followed by a hands on session in our lab, working with state of the art PA and recording equipment.

Our  course is designed for anyone interested in learning the basics of audio engineering.  Are you in a band and want to learn more?  Do you want to be the sound person for your friends band?  Are you considering a career in pro audio?  Are you interested in home recording?  This course is a great starting point.  We will teach you how to set up and run an entire PA system with hands on experience!!  Not only do you learn terms and definitions, but you also get hands on experience in the set up and operation of each vital component of a PA system!
  • The mixing board, it's sections, & their functions.
  • Microphone types & selection.
  • Cable & connector types and selection.  (Use of snake)
  • Insert & send effects  and their controls. (i.e. reverb, delay, gate, limiter, compressor.)
  • Amplifier selection, set up, and operation.
  • Speaker selection, set up and operation, including monitors.
  • Basic front of house and monitor mixing and EQ
  • Setting up a PA, Computer Recorder, & DAW.
You will use this information for the rest of your musical/audio career!  Kids 12 and over, and hobbyists welcome!
